The University of Manchester Innovation Factory (“UoMIF”) is the University of Manchester’s subsidiary responsible for identifying and leading the commercialisation of its innovations and intellectual property.

It then translates these into a form where they can be used by industry and society as a whole. Access to innovations may be created via technology licensing or the formation of spin-out companies. The UoMIF aims to provide a world-class service to academic colleagues and to attract and engage with important external stakeholders including industry; entrepreneurs; licensors and investors; and corporate venture partners.
As part of our objective to become the world’s most effective University Technology Transfer organisation, we are looking to appoint talented ‘Senior Innovation Discovery Manager’ to complement our Life Sciences team.
We are searching for a dynamic entrepreneurial Senior Innovation Discovery Manager whose core responsibilities will be to proactively engage with inventors and innovators to evaluate and describe opportunities which have the potential to generate significant beneficial economic, social, and environmental impact where there is Intellectual Property owned by the University.
You will also be responsible for outreaching to the three faculities within the University to maximise engagement with the Innovation Factory, creating enthusiasm for translating high-quality innovatons into licensable IP commercialiation; running seminars explaining the IP commercialisation process and participating at other academic events to highlight the benefits to the university by way of commercialisaiton activities.
The successful candiate will work closely with with other members of the Innovation Factory organisation, particularly the Business Analytics Team, to further assess and progess viable projects towards commercialisation.
A degree or similar level 6 qualification (England, Wales and N.Ireland Qualification levels) or equivalent is essential for this role (within a Life Sciences related subject).
A post graduate qualification in a business-related discipline would be advantageous.
