Rachel is a Senior Innovation Discovery Manager at the University of Manchester Innovation Factory, responsible for identifying and supporting commercially viable projects in the Faculty of Science & Engineering. 

Rachel has a background in materials chemistry and completed an MChem at the University of Manchester. She is a co‑founder and director of CrystalGrower, a spinout developing software for crystal growth challenges in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

Rachel undertook a PhD awarded by the University of Manchester, spending time at the University of Kanazawa in Japan working with high resolution atomic force microscopy, and two years at the A*STAR Institute for Materials Research and Engineering in Singapore. Her research focused on the dynamic properties of metal–organic frameworks.
