As an Innovation Discovery Manager, Rachel is responsible for identifying and supporting commercially viable projects in the Faculty of Science & Engineering.

Rachel has a background in materials chemistry. She is an alumnus of the University of Manchester, completing an MChem at the department of chemistry.

She then embarked on a PhD, awarded by the University of Manchester but also spending time at the University of Kanazawa, Japan, working with high resolution atomic force microscopy, and two years at the A*STAR Institute for Materials Research and Engineering in Singapore.

Her research focussed on dynamic properties of metal organic frameworks.

She is a co-founder and director of CrystalGrower, a spinout which creates software to solve problems around crystal growth in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
