The Innovation Academy is an umbrella initiative and joint venture between the University of Manchester Innovation Factory, the Masood Entrepreneurship Centre and the Business Engagement and Knowledge Exchange

The Innovation Academy is designed to bring together knowledge, expertise and routes to facilitate the commercialisation of research. It will inspire and accelerate the translation of knowledge to provide benefit.

They will work with you to identify opportunities and facilitate entry into the innovation ecosystem at the most effective point to help provide clear pathways to commercialisation. This could include building University IP and research, building business partnerships, funding infrastructure, incubator space, expertise and mentorship, accelerator programmes and business planning.

You can also access a mentor network and an entrepreneurial community to help you get ready for success and equip you with the necessary skills and contacts to support your innovation journey.

Business Engagement and Innovation

The University wide team aims to capitalise on the University’s research and education strengths to deliver economic, social and scientific impact by building effective and sustainable partnerships with business, and facilitating translation of knowledge to drive innovation.

Masood Entrepreneurship Centre

Entrepreneurship is a major part of the University’s overall innovation strategy with commitment at senior level to implementing the entrepreneurial agenda. The Masood Entrepreneurship Centre (MEC) is a key part of the overall strategy providing a range of both formal and informal learning opportunities across the campus to stimulate the development of an entrepreneurial mind-set.

The Innovation Factory works with academic and student inventors to identify research that has the potential to create value. It then translates these into a form where they can be used to benefit society as a whole. The Innovation Factory aims to provide a world class service to academic colleagues as well as industry; entrepreneurs; licensees; VC & angel investors and corporate venturing partners
