Daniel is a Business Analytics Manager (Science & Engineering) at the Innovation Factory.

He has 10+ years of interdisciplinary Materials Science Research experience. Daniel obtained a degree in Chemistry from the University of Aberdeen in 2013.  From there he took up a Research position focussed on synthesis, characterisation, and application of novel liquid crystalline materials.

He then moved into a Research position at the University of Leeds (UoL), working in close collaboration with clinicians at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust developing new types of biosensors for POC testing. During this period, he was able to publish 30 papers in academic journals, file 2 patents and speak at multiple international conferences.

He also obtained his first experience in the investment world when working with a UoL spinout aiming to commercialise novel auxetic technology.

Prior to joining the Innovation Factory, he worked as the Research and Innovation Development Officer for the Bragg Centre for Materials Research and the Henry Royce Institute at the University of Leeds. This role primarily involved supporting innovation activities, e.g. increasing levels of industrial engagement, developing grant proposals, and advising on the commercialisation of technology.
